Clairven
Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 14, 2026
Clairven (“we,” “us”) is a meal‑planning app that helps you decide what to eat and plan your week. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using Clairven you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Account. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address from that provider. You can also use the app in a guest/anonymous mode, which does not require personal details.
- Your preferences. The information you enter to personalize meals — weekly budget, daily calorie goal, city, dietary settings (e.g. vegetarian/vegan, allergies), and your free‑text likes, dislikes, and notes.
- Meal activity. The plans and recommendations generated for you, and the ratings and notes you leave, which we use to learn your tastes.
- Menu & food photos. If you photograph or upload a menu, the image is sent to our AI provider to read the dishes and suggest what to order. We do not retain these photos on our servers after processing.
- Location (optional). If you grant permission, we use your approximate location or city to suggest nearby restaurants. You can decline; the app still works.
- Technical & usage data. Basic information needed to operate and secure the service (e.g. app version, request logs) and privacy‑respecting product analytics — which in‑app features are used and how often — so we can improve the app. This is not used for advertising, and we do not use third‑party advertising trackers.
How we use your information
- To generate meal plans, recipe and restaurant recommendations, grocery lists, and menu picks.
- To personalize suggestions to your budget, calorie goal, dietary needs, stated preferences, and past ratings.
- To find real nearby restaurants when you ask for one.
- To operate, secure, and improve the app, and to respond to support requests.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third‑party advertising.
Service providers we share data with
We share only what is necessary for these providers to deliver the service on our behalf:
- Anthropic (Claude API) — generates meal, recipe, and menu suggestions from your preferences and any menu photo you submit.
- Google — Google Places (to find real nearby restaurants) and Google Sign‑In (if you choose it to log in).
- Apple — Sign in with Apple (if you choose it to log in).
- Supabase — our database, authentication, and backend hosting, where your account and preferences are stored.
- PostHog — product analytics, to understand which features are used so we can improve the app. Not used for advertising.
These providers process data under their own privacy terms. Data may be processed in the United States.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time in the app: My Profile → Delete account. Deleting your account permanently removes your account and all associated data — your profile, preferences, meal plans, recommendations, and ratings — and this cannot be undone.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Access to your data is restricted per user through database row‑level security, so you can only ever access your own information. API keys for our providers are held server‑side and never shipped inside the app.
Children
Clairven is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your choices
- Use guest mode to avoid providing personal details.
- Decline the location permission (restaurant suggestions will be less location‑specific).
- Edit your preferences any time, or delete your account to remove all data.
- Contact us to request a copy of, or the deletion of, your data.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We’ll revise the “Last updated” date above when we do.
